Thanks for the comments everyone!

I've just looked up the "dragonfly" and it turns out it's actually a damselfly (possibly Ischnura heterosticta or a similar species?). According to "Wildlife of Greater Brisbane", dragonflies rest with their wings outstretched whereas damselflies do not. So there you go...

Bryan, the K100D has shake reduction, which enables me to shoot without tripod or flash when the light is good. For insects etc (and flowers in windy conditions as was the case yesterday) I find it too hard to set the tripod in time.
