I took care to preserve as much faint outer detail as I could when masking it with the much brighter inner area, the whole dynamic range of the nebula muct be huge, its just impossible to record it in one go, hence the short and longer exposures I used.

I saw it through the Newcastle Societies 12 inch Lightbridge last night, all I could make out was a green fuzzy blob, no chance of seeing the 2 ansae. This is why I love astro imaging, it can capture large faint nebulas and also detail in small bright ones
