Can anyone tell me roughly what altitude the horizon is to the north from the chessboard? I'm hoping to be able to get a shot of M31 from up there, and also M42/IC434/B33..
M31 is a longshot I guess as it wont get much above 20° but the Orion area will get to about 40° in the north east before daybreak...
