Dennis, I found with my DBK that M8 came out well, and was quite bright. Also, star clusters like Omega Cent, or 47Tuc are both fairly bright...
Depending on the focal length, you could even have a go at M31, but you would need to use something like a 50mm camera lens to fit it all in.
