Assuming you have a telescope: a JMB/ 1000 Oaks or Baader solar filter to fit the objective will give good visual views of the Sun's surface; If you want to see detail in Hydrogen alpha wavelengths you need a special ( and costly!) Ha filter system.
The cheapest introduction to Ha is the 40mm Coronado PST telescope.
