The following may be of interest to people who don't plan to get Astronomy 2009(!) or who want something to pass on to their childs teacher at primary/high school.
I have put together a calendar which covers major predictable astronomy events visible from Eastern Australia in 2009. It is available on my website in a couple of different formats (included a 12 page Adobe Acrobat file - one month to a page). Go to

It is a draft at this stage. I will be adding a few more things like transit times/dates for the Great Red Spot on Jupiter and hopefully the visibility of a bright new comet in 2009 (which of course has yet to be discovered...).
