Glad to see you got it all sorted, and don't feel too hard on yourself, I'm sure most of us have missed much simpler things when trying to fix something. I was fixing a doorlock just this last weekend and for the life of me I could not understand why the door handle would still move when I "locked" the door. I re-read the instructions a dozen times, before realising I had left out a piece that sits between the handles two steps prior, it was still in the box.
