Hi Chris, i take it thats a stern "No-one knows" !
I have been looking at it, and i can safely say that the comet impacts would have happened lower down. If you check the pic against SL-9 images you'll notice that the latitude isn't high enough for the impact sites to be on the same lat. as the white spots. Note that white spots were also present on the SL-9 Impact images.
