Jupiter August 5 130mm Newt

Hi All,

Interesting thing happened tonight, while trying to get some focus, I completely miscollimated my scope.

Now normally this would have been a problem......however, when i put the cheshire in and set it back up again, I noticed something about the focuser and how it wouldnt line up with the crosshairs properly.

Well, after undoing the three screws and packing a nylon washer on one screw, I found that I can actually collimate the scope better than I have ever before. All crosshairs and more importantly, the concentric outside bright ring (donut) is even ALL the way around)!!!

Dunno why this didnt occur to me before in my many mishaps with collimation. Anyway, I thought I would share.

After all that, I took some pics, two of which are below, the first one is with the ED 3x barlow, and the second is with Moon and Skyglow filter in but without a barlow. (although 300x zoomed in processing)

I was trying to get some Galilean moon action captured as all four were close in two groups of two (looked like the number two on a dice - each set) but I havent got the knack of exposing the moons without burning out Jupiter's disc....?

That's all for now, thanks for listening.

Cheers

Chris
