I used to use a palm pilot and Dave Ek box based dsc and the accuracy was often atrocious. That prompted me to upgrade to the Argo and it was only after I got it that i discovered that encoder slippage was the cause of all my grief.
It only takes a few minutes to do and is well worth it to confirm that all systems are go.
