This means anyone with the smallest telescope, or binoculars, will be able to see some of its surface details, or at least see the planet as a disc, with up to 4 moons. Jupiter is currently the brightest object in the night sky expect for the Moon. Jupiter will remain closest (at opposition) to us for about a month. It will be roughly in the same position, each night, as it makes its way from east to west, following the same path roughly as the Sun.
