Milky Way and Magellanic Clouds from Ballandean

Hi all,

Here are a few shots of the Milky Way etc taken from the TwinStar Observatory near Stanthorpe last weekend. Each image is just a single exposure so the're are fairly noisy, but I thought they were still worth posting. Taken with a Pentax K100D and 18-50mm lans at 18mm, f/3.5, 1600 iso and exposure times ranging from 1-3 minutes. Some adjustments made in PS7. This was the first chance I've had to really test this camera in dark skies like this, and I'm fairly happy with the result. Next time I'll take multiple shots and stack them! It's amazing how dark the skies are there compared to Brisbane!

I'm also posting some afocal shots of Jupiter, taken through the observatory's 46cm reflector, in the Solar Systen images section.

Cheers,
Stephen
