Maybe not quite as trivial and replaceable as fishing rods Paul but
I totally agree with your point.
Maybe more like guitars. I have a few of those accumulated over
the years and if I had to choose one to let go I couldn't!
Each one of my guitars, (and telescopes) has a sentimental value
to it and plays certain songs really well (hey great metaphor for a
scope too
)
I'd part with most material possessions before I came to selling a scope.
