Ok I got really technical. I used one of my photos I took of the APO face on. If this beast really had 127mm optics then it should measure that, so in the monitor I got my ruler out and measured the on screen of the optical area – them to the out side of the dew shield and worked out what it was – I got 159mm. But then I thought I probably stuffed it up, so I waited till I got home. Then borrowed the wife’s dressmaking tape measure and measured the circumference – 495mm which then gave me a diameter of 157.5mm, so my rough method was not far out.
I ordered a AstroHandy Accessories' FlatMaster CCD Lightring Model Meade 127mm APO. I am really hoping it gets here before we leave to go to Astrofest………..
