As for photoshop mockups keep in mind that everything we see with camera sensors and scopes is something of an interpretation - colour being the most obvious. Photoshop when used properly just helps bring out preferred detail from among the noise which is what the camera and scope is doing anyway... e.g. I've never seen the triffid look like this below when I view it with the naked eye
