Hi All,
This image rounds out the panel (2xGalaxies,2xNebs). This image was more of a fluffer or fill-in image. I don't expect it to get a look in, but was entered to test the waters and balance the lack of intensity of the two galaxy images when displayed together.
Soaring Seagull – IC2177
Excerpt from CWAS entry;
IC2177 (center in frame) – Combination of emission, reflection nebula forming the shape of a bird
NGC2327 (head of the bird) – Presenting a unique lightening bolt shaped dark lane and blue reflection nebulosity causing a subtle pink hue
NGC2335 and NGC2343 (lower wing) - Predominate open clusters
Cederblad 90 (upper wing tip) – bright reflection nebula displaying pink hues and “little longbow” nebula
This photo is an [L+Ha]+[Ha+R]GB composite acquired using a Takahashi FSQ-106ED (530mm F/5) telescope and SBIG STL11000M CCD camera. Total exposure time is 7.5 hours (Luminance: 60min; Hydrogen-Alpha: 120min; R,G,B: 90min respectively). The image processing goal for this photo was to enhance the pink/blue hues of the reflection nebulosity, while ensuring the vibrant red tones of the excited hydrogen gases were not muted.
I didn't to much with this image and it shows, just equalised the background for gradient control - which didn't work overly well as it still present lower right.
Anyway, I wish everyone luck who has entered. You'll catch StrongmanMike and I in the closest pub considering I need to shout him a few to make up for the love loss. Will try to get Peter to sink a couple before his presentation/talk.
Cheers
