I think you also needed a box for >2k, >5k and >10k. I am about to shell out $650 for a Feathertouch focuser and your upper limit is 1k ? 1k doesnt quite cover the cost of my filters. So in answer to your question which the survey is all about, yes you can get into astronomy quite cheaply and $1k will set you up very nicely for visual astronomy, but it costs a lot of money if you get serious about it.
