After I got home from the Newcastle Astro Society meeting I set up to image this with the mighty 300mm f2.8 flourite lens from Bert, and tried the un-modded 450D. A modded camera didnt seem so necessary for this as most of the nebulae isnt red expept for a few small sections, most is yellow and blue reflection in nature.

6x10 mins ISO200. The 14 bit images and bigger pixel count work well. Hutech LPS filter used, as severe filter than the UHCS filter, which is better suited to emission line nebulae.

A fog got as far as the bottom of my street, covering all the low lying areas, but later retreated. It was very moist and dewy but perhaps it may have blocked some light pollution from streetlights. Had to manually remove a slight gradient across the image as levels weer strongly stretched to bring out the detail.

Incredible to be able to get stuff as faint as this from within a decent sized city, digital cameras just get better and better
