Two thoughts.
Two scopes is a good way, as I do it like this. Image with one on a GEM, while I observe nearby with a dob/newt.
But, if coin is tight, why not a newt which fits both a GEM, and/or a dob base. I once had an MN76 which worked like that. For imaging it sat in a cradle which fitted the mount. For those lazy nights when all I wanted to do was view I fitted a set of alt bearings to the cradle, and slipped the whole shooting box onto a dob base.
