Definitely two schools of thought here re: the histogram.

I'll give your suggestion a try. I'm keen to experiment with this cam and RGB processing.

I wasn't aware of Anthony's position on the histogram. Perhaps he'll see this thread and comment on the point you have raised?

For the grain I wonder if you shouldn't try just ignoring the histogram and going with what looks just enough to see reasonable detail on the screen. That's what I do, but mainly because I can't work/understand the histo feature in IC capture

I remember Bird saying he doesn't try and fill the histogram either so maybe there's something in it.
