Yes the Starfire provides what is probably the ideal FL for astroimaging a broad range of targets. 1140mm FL provides me with 1.6"/pixel which is a good image scale, while also providing a wide 1.8 X 1.2 deg FOV with my 35mm frame ProLine CCD so I can crop away to my hearts content knowing the resulting image will look sharp.

Great work.
Yes it's a bit like that huh? Eddie Trimarchi did a beauty of the Keyhole a few years ago (perhaps the best amateur image of it?) using planetary imaging techniques ie lots of short subs stacked at a really long FL (over 4000mm I think?)

Ah, can never go past a quick Nessun Dorma or Vesti la Giubba while I can't image ...heck even if I can image, hope they like opera at Wiruna next weekend..?

Incredible when you think it was taken from a Newcastle backyard.

Nice to see another post Mike

Thanks Gary, plenty of dark globules in the Eta complex, that's why I had so much fun doing various croppings of the original full frame image, everyone looked like a different image in its own right
