Hi Matt

I have no direct practical experience of the task you are attempting, but the only reason I can think of to remove the OD and HDD is if they are physical barriers to where the RAM slots are situated?

As long as you ground yourself, the computer and the RAM (to avoid damage by electro static discharge), then if you can see and physically access the RAM slots and insert the new modules without the need to remove anything, then I would say, why not?
