And on the topic of replacing/upgarding the RAM modules.
I was reading the Dell handbook which came with my Inspiron 6000 and it talks about powering off the computer, removing the battery and the optical drive and HDD when I carry out the RAM replacement.
It says once installed, I then reinstall the HDD and power up so the lappy can recognise/identify new hardware.
Surely I don't need to remove the HDD and OD to replace the RAM??????
I would have thought I just have to power down, remove the battery, replace the RAM and power up again?
Is this correct?
Many thanks for any help provided.
