Hi again Kon - the gel-cell battery (7aH) will suit the unit fine; though if the motors draw more than an amp or two, the battery will not last a great length of time in continuous use.
I don't quite inderstand the question about the dovetail bar - that just should fit in the mount recess and be tightened/secured with the mounts pinch-screws. Maybe someone else can answer, or a bit more info - don't start drilling holes yet!
