skyview II mount

I have checked in the web and it is a 12V unit. I bought the mount 2nd hand.
I do have a Gel cell with 12v 7A label on the front. I think it could be a bit to much for the motors but I am not electrically minded.
I also have a standard flat dovetail on my newtonian which does not align with the mounting screws. Is there a adapter with a eq5 styls mount round mount or will I need to start drilling holes in the dovetail.
