Hi Glenc
Where I live I don't stand a cat in hells chance of seeing most of the deep sky objects even with filters and my 14" SCT, the only DSO's I can see with that are M42, M27, M57, M31, Saturn nebula and some of the brighter globulars which is why I favour emission line. Luckily I find the pointing accuracy so good on the Paramount the object I want to image is always centre or thereabouts on the chip and very little adjustments if any are necessary and they usually only involve a little tweek to get the framing just right.
Best wishes
Gordon
