Assuming it comes like the one in the post above, and it all works fine, I'd say it's not a bad deal. But try and talk him down though, after all it they are on special at the moment, at least shipped out from the US.

6 inches is a nice size and there is quite a bit to be seen through one, especially under a dark sky. I use one myself now as a backyarder and for short trips out. The secrets to good views in a reflector is perfect alignment of the mirrors and good eye pieces. The alignment you can do easily yourself with just a little reading and practice and if your serious about astronomy eyepieces are never expensive because you will have them for life and can move them from scope to scope.
