Don’t forget…you are not your hair; cutting your hair does not cut, nor reduce you.

Discipline and order are good; we would be in a pickle if the Sun, being lazy one day, decided not to “rise”, or our heart decided not to beat. Rules and clockwork habits can sometimes appear petty, but they bring stability and certainty.

Breaking free is also good; limits are there to be challenged, but challenged with wisdom, as even angels’ fear to tread where fools blindly rush in. Rules can sometimes stifle and smother – so breaking out brings new insights and liberation from stagnation.

But, the more we look at a small part of our larger self, the greater it becomes; thinking about your hair too much and with a disproportionate amount of energy, magnifies the problem, perhaps making it an ogre, thus diminishing you; making you less than who you are. Your hair is but a small part of you, not the whole shebang. Focus on what you have and all of who you are, not what you look like or the local fashions that are tissue thin and forever change.

When you were born you didn’t have hair; at 60 you may also not have it. Yet there is still you – that is what is more important and worthy of a greater investment in yourself.

By the way, isn’t this stuff we also call hair actually “dead”?

Cheers

Dennis
