Thanks guys it's been an uplifting day.

The Tasmanian Fire Service got wind of my birthday and declared a total fire ban (something about too many candles).

hrh & I had the day off work to attend a funeral, I took some pics, it was rather a fun day. Members of our "radical greeny" (their words not ours) anti pulp mill group mourned the death of democracy, one year to the day that the Tasmanian Government abandoned due process and took the pupl mill evaluation process out of the hands of the RPDC when it became apparent that the mill wasn't going to meet the strict environmental guidelines set by the government.

It was a fun couple of hours, respected scientist Dr Warwick Raverty (image 4), who resigned from the RPDC after continual attempts at interference by the state premier, addressed the crowd as did Dr Peter Hewitt (image 5) who had to be lifted to the speakers platform as he is suffering from terminal cancer and has lost the use of his legs.

It's Dr Raverty's birthday tomorrow and the several hundred strong crowd spontaneously sang happy birthday to him.
