There is a certain evolution about a site and it's members, I believe. While there are certainly many who rarely post, you will also find those who have been very heavy poster who don't post as often these days and allow others to comment.
I also think you might find that activity in posting may also closely reflect activity in astronomy. I know for myself that with so little practical astronomy being carried out I find myself less inclined to actively participate in forum discussions. This doesn't mean however, that it still isn't enjoyable reading various thread.
