s curve lifts the top of the curve (select point about 3/4 of the way up the line and lift) and the bottom of the s curve is about 1/4 of the way up the line and lower. this will boost your high tones and lower the darker tones giving you more contrast.... this is one of the simplest quick fix curves very common.
using the centre eyedropper will or should turn that bit under it to a neutral tone ie a red bit will become grey or a blue bit will become a grey tone, this is usefull for removing a colour cast it can be done anywhere in an image, in your case i just used the darker sky background.
