I think the same ninja postman works my street too! I've never had a parcel delivered, it's always the 'sorry we missed you' note in the letter box.
The last time this happened was with a tracked parcel with the website listed the status as no one home. I'd been working in the front yard all morning - refitting the letter box as it happens. The next day I got the 'sorry ...' note in the letter box from the local postoffice
This means a 1 or 2 day delay and then walking to the nearest postoffice to pick the article up (no car). This is not too bad unless you're buying a bench grinder from eBay!
