I have used AustraliaPost for two decades in my business and in that time have sent, literally, thousands of parcels and packages. The only time I have had problems (very few) was when I didn't register them. In most of those cases I honestly suspect that the recipient was 'having me on'.
A caveat: I had one parcel go missing a few years back (for which I was fully recompensed) but I'd sheet the responsibility for that debacle to the people to whom I sent the thing; they had given me an address from which they had relocated some two (2) years prior to our dealing (don't ask, I don't know either).
So I salute the massive majority of staff at AustraliaPost. As far as I'm concerned they do a fantastic job. There have been times when I have shuddered at the cost involved but a quick reality check like "what would that have cost me if I'd sent it by courier?" sorts that out posthaste.
