Aha !!!!

Ok, problem solved I suspect - it appears that February 1866 was the one without a full moon!

Full moon occured on Jan 30th at 20:28, & then March had 2 of them, Mar 1st 11:51 and Mar 31 4:31 ..... bad month for observing!

February 1870 however had no New Moon - even worse!
March 1870 had only 1 New Moon, but April made up for it finally by having 2...
Apr 1 02:00 & Apr 30 18:38.
