did anyone see the news that Aust astronomers have disocvered that two protruding fingers of H gas are piercing the milky way (being sucked in really) - the gas is said to originate from lmc & smc. apparently it is close too, only 70,000 ly away. probably means we will be swallowing them in the years to come - better observe them now while they are still around
