Hi Jinxsta,
I have had my GS 12" dob for over a year and a half or 2 years (I forget), and it
still has that 'New' smell inside the tube!!!!
It's been carted around, left out to be covered in ice several times (quite a lot actually), cleaned several times (tube, as well as mirrors), covered in dust and dusted regularly etc.
The 'new' smell just never seems to go away.
