Thanks guys – my wife spotted the mating Dragonfly’s and we spent around 20 minutes following them, trying for this shot. I hope we didn’t gate crash their courtship!
For the seagull, I tried the “follow focus” setting (AI Servo) on the 70-200mm lens but didn’t have much luck, so I set it back to one shot and pre focused on the spot where I anticipated this gull would pass through and scored this one of the seagull in flight.
The 40D and lens can do better – it’s just early days for me yet, on the exciting learning curve.
