This picture was taken on a teacher's tour at the Howick open cut coal mine in the Hunter Valley in 1995. Each tyre on the Euclid cost $40,000 at that time. From memory, these behemoths carry upwards of 150 tons.The extrovert in the picture is a colleague of mine who always wanted to pose for the camera.
