Thanks for the great report, Eric!
Yep, last night was a blast!!!!!
That is 4 absolutely clear glass-like skies in a row, and we have another one tonight!
The subject for last night was Astroimaging with a webcam.
It was great to be able to share imaging techniques with other members, and see the new members getting excited about a clear image on their monitor.
I did another one of those flukes: when I arrived, a couple of members from Ararat were already there, so I used the daylight to show them how to set up an EQ (they are dobbers). I just plopped the tripod down, showed them how I use a bubble level to level the mount, the put the EQ5 head on and pointed it sort of South. Then I popped the scope on top to show them how it works.
Later on, when dark came, I was showing people how to image the Orion Nebula in long exposure. Orion stayed dead centre for well over two hours and I hadn't even polar aligned!!!!!!!!!!! I wasn't even sure if it was near south when I plopped it down.
Anyway, members filtered off home at different stages of the night until just Eric and I had the magnificent sky to ourselves.
I packed it in and left for home at 5:15am very satisfied with the great night. Eric kept observing

We also observed many meteors, and a great Iridium Flare.
As usual, I'm looking forward to next months get together
