Not only that they are telling customers that Nokia phones arent as good as LG or other such brands, little do the public know that Telstra are being paid a kick-back by the phone companies to sell their product and Nokia won't take part in that......
I have fitted lots of LG car kits for customers that have told me that, i refuse to believe that Nokia make bad phones! I have had my current CDMA for the last 3 years!!!!

I work quite closely with Telstra and am 80% sure that it will be happening.
As for the different models- it is not that Nokia phones are worse than LG or Samsung but telstra have three classes of NextG phones (A, B, C)- I assume it is based upon the reception each phone.
Group C is recommended for remote areas, whereas Group B is for areas directly around regional centres/towns.
There is an LG, Samsung and a telstra branded phone in Group C, whilst the Nokia NextG phone is in Group B.
