for the first time ever i have managed to capture the facets of a flys eye!
mind you it is done with some trickery... yesterday arvo i got a call from cheryl to say that our new reverse lens adapter had arrived so naturally i gave it a shot when i got home. these shots are from my 55mm macro reverse mounted on my pk3 extension tube. the lens was set to f11 and in the darkness of night it was almost imposible to see this fly resting on a chilli plant leaf. I find the shot of the mouth particularly interesting, it almost like the mouth was added at the last minute by just cutting a piece of head away and shoving the tongue in.
