Not sure but I think some of this has been edited, I got this extra bit of info...

"he ( Alfredo Jose Serra Pereira) had nova-
hunted for 625.85 hr since his discovery of the 2001 nova V4740 Sgr
(cf. IAUC 7706). Pereira adds that nothing was detected at this
position in his visual searches during Nov. 6.23, 7.22, 8.23, 10.23,
and 11.22 down to mag about 8; additional monitoring during Nov.
14.243-14.256 also yielded mag 7.0.

At request of CBAT astrometry of the Nova shows
R.A. = 8h16m18s.01, Decl. = -34o15'24".1, red mag 6.5
and
R.A 8h 16m 17.99s decl -34d 15min 25.0s
from 2 different observers

Only object on Sky Survey plates at this position
is a mag 20 star"
