To be honest, if you want to do viewing then the PST is a great starting point and most affordable. It will show you some surface detail too. Although double stacking it will give you a 0.6A scope which will give nice detail all over, albeit somewhat dimmer.

If you want to get serious then the Solarmax 60 0.5 double etalon is about the serious starting point. I just got mine and am impressed with the level of detail that the extra aperture affords.

I will eventually upgrade to a daystar filter with a 4-5 inches Tak. The reason being obvious. More aperture, better resolution.

Mike I have been working on a technique to make a consistent look. Although generally this a difficult area of any Ha image.
