Today's round of the GT championships at Oran Park, NSW.
My wife Jenny's company sponsors a car and has a corporate box, so we made a day of it. These photos were taken (thanks to a pit/track pass) about 1 meter from these things screaming past me at just about 300kmh. Noise? Yep!
The Ferrari 430's were truly awesome. I've been to several F1 races and these 430's scream at nearly the same pitch, and are drawing a lot of negative attention at the race meets because they're so loud. Bring it on! That's why we go! They were visceral in the extreme. The Porsches are no where near as impressive these days I hate to say - and were no match for the current Ferrari's and Lamborghinis on this track today in either speed or excitement. They are clinically consistent I guess....
The Lamborghini's won the day, and are just beautiful race cars to watch and hear.
I was going to attempt to pan with the cars, but at 300kmh and literally 1 meter away it was utterly impossible. All I had time to do was pre-focus and wait for the cars to reach focus and then hope I hit the button in time.
