SV100
Hi all, next week is SV camp so I thought you would like more information on the SV100. It’s a challenge to take up on nights while observing at the camp. Most people look at the same old objects all the time. I have put together a list of objects, some of you may have seen and may not have.
The list is by no means a full list (only 100 objects) and you will find most of them not too hard to find. Some are hard to make it interesting.
There will be two ways to take up the challenge. One is a list with only the NGC numbers. The other is with NGC numbers and it will have information on what the object is. With today’s Go To scopes punch a number in and of you go. But I would hope those people only take the list with the NGC numbers. So your challenge is not to find the object but to identify the object.
Those without Go To you take the full list then the challenge is to find the objects.
I have been happy to announce the challenge is kindly sponsored by
Steve Massey at My Astro Shop.
Steve has donated a 1.25” UHC filter.
Also a signed copy by the authors of the new book
Atlas of the Southern Night Sky.
See the photo below. I will give a talk on the challenge on Saturday afternoon of the camp.
So I will see you there and take up the challenge and make you observing time more fruitful.
Good Luck
