I really like your effort Dave... I would like to know how long the exposure was but suggest that the longer the exposure the more "things" move around which gives an impression that the focus is wanting..however looking at your diffraction spikes the focus seems spot on... small movements in the mount or the sky are more likely the cause I venture.
In any event a very good image in my view I would be very happy with a result as fine as you have produced.
I had another look at the one from the other day when in a darkened room and was able to see the nebulosity in that one which was not there for me earlier in the "light" of day... is this image a re work of that I can not remember the composition so wonder if they are the same.
