I've never used a planisphere, Instead I have sky mapping software installed on my pocket PC, much more convenient (for me, atleast), plus it also shows the positions of the planets and all the Messier and Caldwell objects. if you have a palm pad, pocket PC, or smartphone, have a look at
Pocket stars. It's free to download.
