My personal theory, call me a nutter if you like.
When you hear on the news that Whales have been beaching themselves, or other sea animals doing strange things, it won't be long before an earthquake occurs.
For eg. There was a small flurry of beachings in W.A. a week or so before the Tsunami.
I don't know if there is anything to it, I've only noticed the pattern in the last 6 years or so. It doesn't happen every time, so it may be a coincidence.
But maybe all this build up of energy in the plates plays havoc with their built in GPS?
I dunno.
