A most dreadful event, Mick. My sympathy is attached along with best wishes for your son's rapid recovery.
I must put up my hand though and acknowledge that I, in my younger years, did some stupid things with motor cars (I'm in my early sixties now). When I think back on that period of my life I reckon that I was lucky to survive and, for that matter, not to injure someone else.
Is it possible to tell a young man (or even a young lady these days) that s/he is not immortal? I somehow doubt it. The young are risk takers; always have been, always will be - it seems to come with the territory.
Mick, you will never stop worrying about your children - at least in my experience - so you'd better get used to it.
