Very interesting stuff.

Being color blind has some benefits after all... but CA is really about sharp focus I guess.

Will a hotter atmosphere with reduced density mean more light gets thru to us to offset the other problems? or being hotter it will expand so as to provide more air for the light to pass thru???

I have a great supply of perfect crystal we could make our own.. cool the blank over a couple of decades... polish and grind the result in the fridge...

I still think we are very lucky to have the quality that is available really such that refractors do not need to be a couple of hundred feet long to reduce CA.

Maybe ...as funny as it sounds... maybe plastics will be developed in the future to better glass... there must be more opportunity to manipulate the "crystaline" structure one would think.
